How do you get your brand cited by ChatGPT and other AI assistants?

Short answer

There's no submission form. Assistants cite sources they can find, trust and easily extract an answer from — so the levers are: be present where they look (review sites, Reddit, YouTube, high-authority roundups), be structured so your page is easy to quote (a direct answer up top, question-style headings, clear sections), and build enough third-party mention that your brand reads as a credible option.

The three levers that actually move it

  • Presence: assistants disproportionately pull from a small set of trusted domains — review platforms (G2, Capterra), Reddit, Wikipedia, YouTube and high-authority roundups. Being mentioned there matters more than any on-page trick.
  • Structure: pages that lead with a direct answer, use question-shaped headings, and keep clean, quotable sections are easier for an assistant to extract from and cite.
  • Brand: the more your name appears across the web in a credible context — even without a link — the more likely you are to be treated as a legitimate option worth naming.

What does NOT work

There is no "AI schema", no llms.txt shortcut, and no keyword-density hack that earns citations. A promotional, salesy tone tends to correlate negatively — assistants prefer neutral, informative writing. Chasing thin, templated page-count also does little on its own.

A realistic order of operations

  • Get listed and reviewed where your buyers and the assistants both look (for SaaS, that's G2 and Capterra first).
  • Publish genuinely useful, structured content — comparisons, honest "best X" roundups, clear explainers.
  • Earn authentic presence in the communities your audience trusts (Reddit, YouTube), rather than pushing traffic only to your own pages.
